The DAQs have been studying hard lately which explains the lack of posts....you guys miss us??? :-( ....anyways, I wanted to try a new series of posts I've been thinking about doing....Cooking!...I enjoy making food, whether be from known recipes or just making them up myself...Filming while I cook is a little bit of challenge LOL...I tried my 2 different cameras to see which would come out better due to lack of natural light in my kitchen :-( ....anywho, I made Chicken Taco pasta that I made up myself and then a Trail Mix snack that I modified...Any ideas of what I should try or make? Wow, this video has gone VIRAL....5093 comments from the 2 minute i started watching it....21st century teens.............So what i gathered from this video is that the 15 yr old daughter was bitching about some chores she has to do daily...SERIOUSLY?????......so she posted the crap on FB and blocked her 'rents from seeing it....papa saw it and was obviously pissed off...so he decided to make a video addressing the crap his daughter crapped about on FB....after bitching out his own crap on the crap his daughter crapped....he ended up shooting the daughter's laptop...REAL IMMATURE....I get the point he was trying to make...or do...whatever...but honestly, the way he handled the situation=Immature....shooting the laptop=Immature....i was afraid for the daughter's life when he goes it's going to be alot worse....i dunno...sounded like a threat to me....i agree his daughter's ungrateful comments about her parents were off base but honestly...this is not the way to address the situation..the whole 8 minutes he sat and did all this BS...he could have used the 8 minutes to address his own daughter face to face and give whatever punishment he was planning..it's the father's job as a parent to not only model the behavior you want to see from your child, but at the most basic level--to act like an adult......Humiliating your child in front of her friends, her school, her town, and now the entire nation is neither modeling appropriate behavior, or acting like an adult. Although the 15yr old deserves some ass whupping..but i feel sorry for her...i mean look at her dad.......I think the whole family needs some counselling....or prayer cause this is just inappropriate.....Instead of harnessing his daughter's immaturity like a responsible, self-contained adult, this gentleman reacted like a 10-year old with a temper tantrum and chose macho over brains.

Sure he has a lot to say, but his humility is zero. He has decided to make a public display of his failure as a father......

Now he has taught his daughter that it's okay to shoot at something when you're pissed....SMH

Hey guys,
I know I've been pretty MIA (hint hint) but school and the misfits have been stealing all my time. My sincere apologies. Wow i really haven't posted in a while because i am finding difficult to write out a simple post like this. *the struggle* Anyway, i figured i would give you guys something to enjoy while perusing our blog cursing us for not having a new post. But anyway, this video has been instantly inducted into one of my favorite music videos of all time, yes i said it. I want to see the deleted scenes that how much i love this video. The video was filmed in Ouarzazate, Morocco and directed by Romain Gavras. All i can say is, I'm seriously trying to be about this life, straight up. David Guetta ft. Nicki Minaj- Turn Me On

This video is cool and all, kind of creepy but overall it has a story which is hard to find in music videos these days. I am a fan of Nicki's singing in this song (they mustve had one helluvan engineer) and it's a pretty typical D. Guetta party tune. I hope Nicki takes note on how a real music video should be, you don't need all the fluorescent makeup and retired cheerleader moves to make a decent video. If you couldn't tell, yes, that was shade.

I was debating including this video and honestly not for the obvious reasons. I am completely fine with not having to watch Drake struggle to exude goon like mannerisms while crying on a track. This was a pleasant refresher, at least the concept was. This is where my issue lies, as "blessed" (honestly it looks more like a curse) as this woman is, and yes she is very "blessed", i just don't think she was up to par with her "practicing". Like i know why she was casted for this role but i mean she is baby twerking. If Drake is going to have us sit here and watch a 4 minute video of a woman "dance" (in this case baby twerk) i want to see something stupendous. Am i wrong? I will not even bring up the whole argument of subjection of women in videos and how this is all ~~bull~~ at the end of the day. But not even one clap, not one! Now that folks is weak sauce to me. Owning a tumblr exposes you to many things, some you don't even wish upon your most hated enemies and others. . .not so much. So i have actually seen a video of Maliah (one of Drakes stripper ex-gf so like #708095) practicing, like really practicing, and as much as i would never admit it to her or any of her ~~fans and well wishers~~. . .that woman is talented (debatable on choice of men, see Sean Kingston, but talented never the less). As her ex he obviously has a hard drive full of videos of that sort, all he had to do is play his track over one of those, and i'll leave it at that. Ive also heard this is apparently a teaser? If you fast forward to the end (as i advise all of you to, yes, shade once again)you will see Drake on top of this woman. If this is the teaser, what is the actual video going to consist of? I'll leave you guys to ponder on that.

If the title doesn't sufficiently encapsulate how much i love menswear i will be forced to use this intro to elaborate further on my love affair with mens fashion. It is a love love symbiotic relationship, no other way to explain it. I love when i encounter a well dressed man who is also easy on the eyes *fans self*, obviously these encounters only occur over the internet but i digress. Keep reading to view a prime example of such a man, yes, he's real.

I am a sucker for details, and with men's fashion there are unlimited possibilities to add that extra touch of personality to an outfit. Generally speaking there's a lot more to men's fashion than a suit, slacks, dress shirt, shoes and casual wear. And i hope my series of posts will shine a light on this.
A few ~~misconceptions~~ i want to put to rest is the whole thing that men who dress well are displaying homosexual tendencies. I personally don't think that ones sexual orientation can be determined by their fashion sense. I can confidently say that there only a few things more sexier than a man that can dress well.Ladies do you agree? And the church says Amen. First impressions are key, so to me when i see a well dressed man i assume mostly positive things. Who wouldn't want that repertoire before even having to utter a word. Another point worth mentioning just from experiences shopping with my brother is that men's apparel tends to be pricier than women's, in a commercial setting. However, men can reuse, recycle and revamp their pieces well for as long as they can fit in them without causing too much of a fuss. As compared to women's fashion, just imagine busting out your ~~Litas~~ in summer of 2015 (I wouldn't dare).

My love for menswear has heightened my senses on what to look for and pay attention to when i encounter various men. I'm not expecting a Nick Wooster or anything but i need some extra effort in expressing yourself. Okay random phrases keeping coming to mind and I'm having difficulty creating cohesive sentences of them (it's 4am and i keep scrolling through the men's fashion pictures I've collected while doing "research")so I'm going to just vomit them out(gruesome much).

Dress your age, there really is no need for further explanation
If you claim to be into fashion as much as i am or in general, i need to see it reflected in the way you present yourself
Don't just follow trends blindly, I'm not saying you can't like those things but just add your own flavor to it
If i see one more guy with a ~~snapback, crew neck, camo shorts, jordans, louie belt and coin wallet hanging off, and another snapback hanging off~~ of that, i am going to burn him EOS.
If you are a true sneaker head, Jordans and Nike shouldn't be the only brands your rocking
On the topic of sneakers, there should be a balance between sneakers, casual shoes and dress shoes (Not your sundays best crocodiles either, throw those in your neighbors trash son)
I don't want to see the tags on anything you are wearing unless you plan ~~to return it afterwards~~,and in that case "I respect the struggle, but boo boo you gotta go"
Death to brands, i don't care who made it or who wore it in what music video, if it looks right it looks right. I like to mix my forever 21 and H&M on occasion.
If you expect your woman(~~women if that's what you're into~~) to look bomb from the top of her head to the supple bottom of her pinky toes then you must be on top of your game too. Boom.
I personally take inspiration out of everything and reflect it into what i wear. And what my mans wearing should be one of them. Exhibit A,B,C etc.:

But this post isn't about what not to wear.So I'm here to offer some inspiration in the form of Mr. Carlton Anderson.

Not only is his style versatile but he looks oh so dapper in whatever he has on. A marketing major at Howard University, this man makes all the guys i used to think were fashionable look like ~~vagabonds~~.(Smh at my young basic days)

The attention to detail he displays oh so subtly...With no overstating pieces, he is able to create a cohesive yet fashionably daring outfit time after time. What man have you seen pull off red loafers oh so casually. Yes, I'll wait.

The anchor belt seems to be a staple in many of his outfits, other than adding a little nautical feel to looks it also adds some personality.Love it.

The rose print pocket square to me adds a little flare to his ensemble because i would never expect to see someone wearing a pocket square in their vest pocket. And the fact that he is not afraid to play with a more feminine print such as roses just adds to his masculinity. Kind of like the whole "Real men wear pink" thing but less cliche and cheesy and more fashionable.

My point proven in this next image,(due to the lighting I'm not very sure but...)salmon colored pant paired with the navy shirt.Men take note: Do not be afraid to play with more feminine colors, I'm not saying you should look like a bowl of fruit loops but i would like to see more pastel colors in ensembles that are not polos.

What gets me about Carlton's (Can i call you Carlton? Thanks :)) style is the fact that his outfits are simple and comfortable. He doesn't over do anything but yet is able to grab ones attention. But his eloquent way of keeping details understated is it (i really can't find any other way of expressing how it it is). It's sort of like a muellerian image (I'm horrible with metaphors) you kind of have to stare at him to catch certain key details, which is completely fine with me. Im naturally an analyzer so i already examine the hell out of people due to habit but most times i leave disappointed because i don't discover anything interesting.No one wants everything handed to them, we all love a chase,some even say mystery is sexy (some as in me) so to not notice something until further assessment should interest everyone but no one ever gets excited when i point out these things (This whole sentence probably didn't make sense, I'm blaming it on my verbal awkwardness this time).

Overall, Carlton's style is something that comes from within him. As i said before, he really doesn't wear anything flashy or overstating. He keeps it fashionably low key, which tends to catch ones attention better than those who over do it. Very excellent taste in threads.

OOTD 1-10-12: Woodland Nymph

I found myself looking through old pictures and reminiscing on my high school days. *sigh* Ive lost my mojo guys, in high school i was so fun and adventurous fashion wise and these days all I wear are blazers. Understandably I am at a different level at this point but I feel like I'm turning into one of those frumpy 90s business women with the power shoulders blazers (no bueno). Ive missed being this fun and creative so i am definitely go back to the archives to find some much needed inspiration. Im also still working on the balance between dressing professionally while still maintaining my fun personal style.

Anyway, I joked on Monday and said i would wear Blue all week to commemorate the birth of BIC the Creole Princess (don't judge me) and so I've actually taken it on as a personally challenge to see how many blue outfits i can come up with for this week. So without further adieu, walah. It was gorgeous outside so i didn't mind the sleeveless but i did wear a cardigan to go to class. One of my friends said i looked like a "Woodland Nymph" she seemed pretty excited about it so i took it as a compliment lmao.

New Year, New Hair

so it's 2012!!! which means time for a new install. lol. So, I gifted myself some new hair for 2012.

specs for the hair:

50g of 12" afro kinky curl

100g of 14" afro kinky curl

I lightened the ends of the 12". I didn't want it to be a loud color, just some brownish color that you could see in the sun. You can see the color in some of my pics below.

It seems that an article was written to Sister 2 Sister magazine by a Caucasian woman who requested a response from black men. I saw this on tumblr and figured i would share it with you all.

 Dear Jamie: I’m sorry but I would like to

challenge some of your Black male readers

 I am a White female who is engaged to a Black male-good-looking, Educated and loving. I just don’t understand a lot of Black females attitudes about ourrelationship.. My man decided he wanted me because the pickings amongst Black women were slim to none. As he said they were too fat, too loud, too mean, too argumentative, too needy, too materialistic or carrying too much excess baggage.

 Before I became engaged, whenever I went out I was constantly approached by Black men, willing to wine and dine me and give me the world. If Black women are so up in arms about us being with their men, why don’t they look at themselves and make some changes.

 I am tired of the dirty looks I get and snide remarks when we’re out in public.. I would like to hear from some Black men about why we are so appealing and coveted by them. Bryant Gumbel left his wife of 26 years for one of us. Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen, the model Tyson Beckford, Montell Williams, Quincy Jones, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte, Sydney Poitier, Kofi Anan, Cuba GoodingJr., Don Cornelius, Berry Gordy, Billy Blanks, Larry Fishburne, Wesley Snipes…

 I could go on and on. But, right now, I’m alittle angry and that is why I wrote this so hurriedly. Don’t be mad with us White women because so many of your men want us. Get your acts together and learn from us and we may lead you to treat your men better. If I’m wrong, Black men, let me know.

 Dear Jamie: I would like to respond to the letter written by A Disgusted White Girl.

 Let me start by saying that I am a 28-year old black man. I graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. I have a good job at a major corporation and have recently purchased a house. So, I consider myself to be among the ranks of successful black men.

 I will not use my precious time to slander white people. I just want to set the record straight of why black men date white women. Back in the day, one of the biggest reasons why black men dated white women was because they were considered easy. The black girls in my neighborhood were raised in the church. They were very strict about when they lost their virginity and who they lost it to. Because of our impatience to wait, brothers would look for someone who would give it up easy without too much hassle. So, they turned to the white girls. Nowadays, in my opinion, a lot of brothers date white women because they are docile and easy to control. A lot of black men, because of insecurities, fears, and overall weaknesses, have be come intimidated by the strengthof our black women. We are afraid that our woman will be more successful than us, make more money than us, drive nicer cars and own bigger houses. Because of this fear, many black men look for a more docile woman. Someone we can control. I have talked to numerous black men and they continuously comment on how easy it is to control and walk over their white women. I just want to set the record straight. I want A Disgusted White Girl toknow that not all successful black men date white women.

 Brothers like Ahmad Rashad, Denzel Washington, Michael Jordan, Morris Chestnut, Will Smith, Blair Underwood, Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Rock all married strong black women And, to flip the script, there are numerous white men, in and out of the spotlight, who openly or secretly desire black womenover white women.. Ted Danson, Robert DeNiro, and David Bowie and Robin Thicke, to name a few..

 I just don’t want a disgusted white girl to be misinformed Stop thinking that because you are white that you are some type of goddess. Remember, when black Egyptian Queens like Hatsepshut and Nitorcris were ruling Dynasties and armies of men in Egypt, you were over in the caves of Europe eating raw meatand beating each other over the head with clubs. Beyonce gives birth!

ok guys...it's late but i just read that it has been confirmed that Beyonce has given birth to a baby girl today, Saturday, January 7, 2012. Reportedly, the baby's name is Blue Ivy Carter (I've also seen it written as Ivy Blue Carter).....interesting choice Bey. I'm not sure what the significance is behind the name, but I'm sure it has some significance to the first time parents. I feel like beyonce's pregnancy was the biggest hype of 2011. Is she really pregnant??? Is the baby an alien?? Will it look like Jay??...all valid questions...ok...well...maybe not the alien one..haha ;)
I'm happy for them, and i hope they have some private time with their new daughter before getting swarmed by the media. I wonder how long it will take to see pics of the baby??
The only thing that struck me as odd, was that I read she delivered the baby by scheduled c-section....i see this as a growing trend. Women pick a day to deliver the child when it's most convenient to them, and then the physician goes in and removes the child. I guess natural child birth is going out of style!

Hey guys! So, some time ago my mother came back from a day of shopping and she was telling me about this line of African print clothes that Burberry has out. I remembered that I've heard some buzz about this tribal print line that Burberry has coming but I never got around to checking their pieces out. Hey guys..hope everyone's having a great time and getting ready to end the year 2011....hanging out with some friends, new friends and old friends in ATL...so we're all sitting in a circle and talking about stuffs and how to end 2011 with a bang...For the past 8 years, i've spent my New Year's Eve in NYC with my dad then later with friends and a bottle of red wine....but not this year...hanging out in ATL with my family and friends...so everyone's talking and cracking some jokes....definitely checking out some guys i just met this evening....PURRFECCTIIONNN :)..............

I am still wondering how the question "Why Black Men Don't Date Black Women" came across this conversation...i was on the phone for a minute..i guess i must have missed how it switched to that conversation...so now it's the men versus women...and you know when alcohol is involved.....Stuff Goes Down...so basically the guys nominated Justin "AKA LOUD MOUTH" to give out the reasons why black men don't date black women....i'm going to list out the reasons i've heard so far...

Justin..let me introduce Justin first lol (this would be better if i had pictures haha) Justin is 25...lives in ATL....brother of my brother-in-law's best friend..pretty cool guy...claims to have dated 2 black girls in high school..renounced black women in college...in a relationship with with a Latina girl...pretty girl though...okay so Justin's reasons...

1) Black Women are crazy- According to Justin..each race of black women have different levels of craziness but black women take it to the extreme. Why do today's black women act like they have to be "She-Hulk" or something? and for no aparent reason? He talks about how one of his friends creeped on his girl and she took her friends to his job and destroyed his car, destroyed his apartment and all that stuff lol...

2) Black Women are lazy- Black women don't want to work and even if they do work, they still need the men to do everything..pay my bills, take me shopping and whatnot. He mentions the recession and some stuffs...i was laughing so hard to pay attention. Black women just want men with money, he can look like flavor flav but as long as he has the money...all i see is Shemar Moore...lmao(that made everyone laugh so hard) He talks about being independent and pays homage to Neyo's song "Miss Independent". He says yes he knows it's a relationship and spoiling the lady is expected...don't drop hints like buy me this and that, you don't do nothing for me, you're broke blah blah blah...wait to be suprised and something in that kinda sense...

3) Black Women are too agressive and they are always nagging- Black women are always looking down upon black men...always wanting to start a fight, too strong headed and constantly complaining about everything...he said some other stuffs but the main point was black women nag too much......and they are always trying to start a fight when there's really no need too.

4) Black women and their fake hair- Always saying "you can't touch my hair, i just paid $150 dollars to get this in"..extensions, weaves and all that wrapping hair at night turns a guy off....(note i was had on weave when he's saying all this lmao)...He gives a scenario...a black man making out with a black woman, he tries to run his fingers through her hair and he's feeling some weird hard stuff and it's all over...the moment is gone..."Woman can i run my fingers through your hair without being in a forest and whatnot" lol...apparently that grosses black men out...all the guys seemed to agree about the black woman's hair and the fact that black women can drop down a thousand dollars just for their hair....speechless lol

5) In reference to 5, black women and their fake nails- Black men hate seeing black women with fake nails, yes the nails have to be manicured and stuff but some black women take it to the extreme with long nails, it grosses black men seeing long nails, if you're not a wolf..there should be no reason for you to have nails like that....

Another thing he says is that, look around you when you go out...especially at clubs, bars...Black men are paying attention to women of other races...they want to dance with them, talk to them and just have a thing going on.....black women come in with their friends and they want to act like their on top of the world...black men ignore them and even if black men approach black women in a club....it's nothing serious..they just want to know where you'll be later------for a booty call..

So i'm going to give the responses my friend Dupe gave to Justin...Dupe's Nigerian, she's 23 and she's in grad school studying Industrial Engineering......she's not in a relationship right now...but she does date black men..she's loud..very loud lol..she lives in ATl..met her when my sister moved to ATL 3 years ago..she's very cool..i'm going to make it short cause this is getting way too long hahahahaha..so in Dupe's words

Why black women are crazy- Black men make black women crazy, why would you be creeping when you are in a relationship? If you come to me and tell me you creeped on me or i find out you creeped on me, you better believe i would go crazy on you....it's not okay to to cheat in a relationship and a woman who takes a guy back after he's cheated and what not, should be spanked so hard until she comes to her senses....she mentions there are other reasons black women are crazy but she's going to respond to his "Justin's" reasons.....

Black women are not lazy, they are just smarter- I haven't met a lazy black woman and even if there are some lazy black women, it's the men's fault..she notes all races of women want men with money...some may call it gold digging but hey if black men allow themselves to be fooled once..then you'll be seen as a fool...she says he's confusing educated black women with other kinds of black women..and she says the black women she knows are educated and are making good money...she says she doesn not know where he finds the black women depending on men for money...lol

Black women are aggressive and they always nag- Black men gives us reasons to nag and be agressive cause it's hard to find a faithful black man..and for the fact that black men always compare black women with women of other races....you better believe we'll always nag and be agressive...

Black women and their fake hair- She says Justin if you're 25 and you still have a problem with black women's hair...i suggest you take a trip home to your mother and ask her that same question...(everyone goes oooooooooh) she says most women of all races have fake hair...most of them just wear clip ins...and it's not black women's fault that their hair needs extra care....she says a black man who has poblem with black women's hair is irrelevant...it's been talked about and it's been concluded..go google it justin...this is just irrelevant.

Black women have fake nails-Seriously Justin, she laughs and says..i am not going to comment on that....

While this was going on, i was just laughing...i mean i never really thought about it....I see a lot of black men dating women so i was lost in this conversation...maybe it happens in ATL or other places..or maybe i don't pay attention or something but this is my first time hearing that black men don't want to date black women.....some black guys i know do date women of other races because it's their preference..the reasons Justin gave are just plain useless..if those are the reasons black men don't date black women...that's just crazy..if you don't want to date black women..thats your perference..don't blame petty things such as fake hair....being agressive and attitudes...that's just crazy...even though Dupe really didn't go hard as i was hoping she would and some of my other female friends kept raisng their voice..hahaha aggressiveness in motion..i stayed away from all that..one of the guys i was checking out came and asked me if i wanted to talk lol...apparently he was not feeling the argument...neither was i...but one thing i pointed out to Justin was that...black men need to stop saying all black women....say some black women...not all black women are exactly the way black men think. I agree with Dupe's statement....it's the 21st century, if you still have a problem with black women's hair...you're done...so done...it really has been talked about and it's being concluded...in relation to black men at the club..paying attention to women of other races=happily ever after???....puhleeaase....it is a one night stand thing...everything is a one night stand thing...when you meet men/women at the club..don't say its only black women equals one night stands..i have a lot of guy friends that'll testify that meeting all races of women at the bar, clubs..lounges=one night stands..again not every guy or women think in this way...just some...There was a lot of things that was said but this is just the basics lol......What do you guys think? Any other reasons why black men don't date some black women?

Hey guys, so this is a post just showing my real hair....I took out my weave so my hair can breathe and got a relaxer...These are pics of my hair growth progress, I don't really have a specific goal, I just want to be long and healthy...I stretched out my relaxer for 10 weeks and 5 days...My leave out hair is always shorter than everywhere else *sad face*...I usually have a weave in for most of the year, however, during the summer I don't because the weather is nice...As for products, I don't have any set regimen, I just buy what my hair likes LOL...Most of my products have olive oil in it, I use natural coconut oil, and I wash my hair with dove shampoo and use mane n' tail conditioner to grow my hair....

The body of the missing Nigerian first year pharmacy resident, Tosin Oyelowo, has been discovered!...Sad story....

----According to Post and Courier, Tosin's body was spotted on sandbar by a young resident of the island who came home on Christmas break. The father of the boy said his son notified him of the discovery, but told him he wasn't sure if it was a person. Earl Bridges said he waded out to with three-feet of the dead woman. ----Charleston Police Department confirmed today that the woman was 25-year-old Tosin Oyelowo, who had been reported missing when she did not show up for work at MUSC on Dec. 12. According to a report from the Daily Times of Nigeria, Oyelowo came from Lagos, a city of 8 million people on the coast of the West African country. Her family moved to Raleigh, N.C., and she went on to study at the University of Charleston (West Virginia) School of Pharmacy. At the time of her death, she was a first-year pharmacy resident at MUSC.

Charleston and Mt. Pleasant police originally declined to identify the jumper as Oyelowo until the body was recovered, but today, Charleston Police Department spokesman Charles Francis said eyewitnesses at the scene had confirmed Oyelowo's identity. According to an incident report, police found Oyelowo's car parked at the Shell gas station on the Mt. Pleasant side of the bridge. Her purse and keys were found at the top of the bridge near where she had been seen around 3:40 p.m.

I stumbled upon this blog about a white mother who has a black daughter and how she cares and styles her black daughter's hair. It's a blog geared towards mothers with black daughters that need help in knowing what to do with some nappy roots...The blog is very informative and cute :-).... Any who, this mother wrote a letter to the general public addressing the issue of people feeling that they have the right, since she is a white mother, to touch her daughter's hair without permission...

Dear People Who Have, or May, Come Into Contact with My Daughter,

Thank you so much for your interest in my daughter’s hair. Yes, it is beautiful, we both appreciate your compliments. Yes, she’s very patient and has no problem sitting to have her hair done. She’s been getting her hair done since she was very small and knows of nothing else; her hair regime is a fact of life and she doesn’t see it as the burden that you do. Nor do I.

While asking me about my daughter’s hair, please do not start touching it. Just because I am a vanilla parent this does not mean that you have an “in” to touch chocolate hair for the first time. I have had too many people tell me, “Oooh, I’ve always wondered what their hair felt like,” while pawing my daughter. She’s not an animal, she’s a human being.

We teach our children that strangers touching them in inappropriate ways is wrong and that they should tell an adult immediately. In our opinion, anytime a child is touched by anyone who feels that they have a right to do so, against the child’s wishes and without the child’s permission, is inappropriate.

You see, every chocolate/jam/cheetos handprint on her hair from other children and/or adults is a mark on her dignity. She is small, but she does have personal space and a sense of self-worth. When you invade that space without her permission you are telling her that she has no rights to her body; that her desire to be left untouched is not as important as your curiosity.

Even if your hands are clean, they still leave a an invisible mark.

If you are sweet and kind enough to ask my daughter ahead of time if you can touch her hair, please do not be offended if she says, “No.” She is not being rude. She has no obligation to give the answer that you want. Her body is her own and if she does not want to share it with you at that moment, then please respect her rights. Don’t tell me that she’s being “disobedient” or “rude” or huff and walk away. In doing so, you are indirectly communicating that she owes you a piece of herself for no other reason than because you asked. She does not.

No, I do not do unique hairstyles for my daughter to attract your attention. I do them for her, to help foster a loving relationship with her natural hair so that she will grow up loving how God made her, hopefully minimizing any desire to alter herself to match someone else’s standard of beauty. Do not tell me that if I didn’t want her touched that I shouldn’t be doing all these hairstyles that say “look at me, touch me.” Do not blame the victim for your indiscretion or lack of self control.

If you are a teacher, please note that the first day of school is often very intimidating and making a really big deal about hair – on that day, or any day – while inviting other teachers and/or parents to come over to touch and finger-through a child’s head of hair, can be extremely overwhelming. Yes, she may be one of the few chocolate children at your school, but drawing so much attention to her will only highlight how different she is. Although I can address the issue with you while I’m present, I put my trust in you that you will protect my daughter throughout the day. Allowing classmates to put their hands in her hair or play with her beads is not only distracting to the class, it is also akin to hitting; it is a violation of my daughter’s person and I have to believe that you will do your best to keep this from happening. Just because it might not physically hurt her, doesn’t mean it doesn't hurt her character.

I remember back in the days of being pregnant and how it used to bother me when strangers would come and touch my belly without my permission. I know that people struggle with holding back when their curiosity gets the best of them, but nevertheless it seemed only right to me that someone should ask before placing their hand(s) on my stomach.

But I am an adult. I have already formed my identity and self-worth and can hopefully express my discontent in constructive ways. Children are still learning about themselves in the world. They are not as certain of themselves, and if you cross a line they will often question the line, not you.

In conclusion, I pray that this letter is well-received, that those who may have done this in the past feel convicted and think twice before doing it again. For those who have never experienced chocolate hair, may it be a helpful insight into our beautiful world. For people who have recently welcomed a child with chocolate hair for the first time into your extended family, may you respect the child’s personal space and be kind and gentle with your questions and curiosities. For all, please remember that you are helping to shape the character of the adults of tomorrow; if we cannot respect the bodies of our children today, how can we expect them to respect themselves in the future?

They say that approaching a blackgirl is one of the more frightening things they have encountered basicallybecause of the unknown. They don’t know how she will react, they are afraid ofhow she may react, they don’t know if she’s into white boys and many otherreasons. I realized that many of their reasons stemmed from societies label onus as “The Angry/ Irrational Black Woman”, which isn’t at all okay but is anexplanation as so where they are coming from. I’ve witnessed this first hand, Iwill be somewhere looking gawgeous (as per usual) *files nails* and I willsee a couple white guys ogling but sill look hesitant to approach. I can countthe number of times a white guy has approached me on my hands, and it’s notlike I hang out with only black people so there isn’t really any excuse forthat, period. Unless it’s because I am ugly, which I am open to that idea too. Tobe frank, the majority of the time I see a white guy confidently come up to meor my girls is either when he has had a couple of drinks and has found someliquid courage or he has a gang of friends with him cheering him on. To me,that’s WHACK.ORG (s/o to Tamar). I don’t care what ethnicity you are, if YOUare the man you claim to be then you shouldn’t have a problem approaching awoman YOU are interested in.

But as I said before this isn’t atall one sided. It is a losing attitudefor me to list out the negatives when approaching a situation and I am workingon changing it. I guess it all stems from that fear of rejection (little selfreflection here and a potential post in the making). Hearing conversationsbetween my guy friends preferring fairer girls doesn’t help the cause either. AsI’ve been sitting on this topic for a while, it made me think “What is the bigdeal” why are we over complicating things and making issues out of nothing.If you are attracted to someone and want to approach them, do it, thelikelihood of them turning you down is pretty minute if you aren’t a ~~creepypsycho~~ and if they do turn you down it is probably because you aren’t their preference. No big deal.

I have an immense amount of frustration with the english language. Thank God I don't have anymore literature classes. I just feel like some people are born understanding things scientifically, and they can explain Moby Dick and it's entirety in one paragraph. Then you have those people who are phenomenal writer's. I have a great amount of respect for those who can write well. To be able to find the words to expound on what your saying is totally a gift (perhaps a talent.. whatever).

Now I have some friends who can write a 5 page analysis in 1 hour and get an A on it. It'll take me 5 days(more like weeks) to write 5 pages in order for me to get an A. ugh ! The struggle. I'd much rather
work on quantitative work.Writing papers are exhausting. Writing a paper to me is like a med student studying for her/his MCAT. Yeah it's that intense for me! The sorrow the sorrow.

I just wish everyone was born with the gift to write. It's definitely not fair. Now I have people that say "well if you would only practice and practice you'd be able to do it without being frustrated." I have a strong reason to believe that writing is an art form and it can not be practiced. Either your good at it or your NOT. I happen to be on the not side of the spectrum (it's evident in all the grammatical errors located in this post.)

I just don't understand why professors would not accept my writing for what it was. It was me, and for crying aloud one of my courses was CREATIVE writing. I mean what happened? Did the creative part go out the door when I turned in a paper; or were there always 10,000 limitations to what is and what is not creative. I just don't get it. sigh* humph* sigh* I mean sheesh shakespeare and thoureau and poe and wilde and on and on and on of these phenomenal writer's created their own forms and styles of writing but when I do it they say I sound TOO poetic (I never knew there was such thing as sounding too poetic -_-). I don't understand what's wrong with that and no one could ever explain to me what is or was wrong with sounding poetic. As long as I gave a detailed description and formulated my thoughts to the best of my ability, then I REALLY don't grasp what the problem is.

More importantly it grinds my gears that no one has yet to tell me what the problem is or how I would go about fixing it. I feel like the element or art of writing has consumed me and now I don't know what to do. So much for perfection.

If I were still required to write then my pen would bleed blends of black and blue. Melancholy!

Just stumbled upon this article.

I want to know what you guys think of it? Do you think the list should be longer? Shorter? or Should there even be a list?

I would also advise you to take a look at the comments, some people have brought up some good points that you might have not considered. Don't let your emotions and national pride skew your opinion.

My take: (Disclaimer these are my opinions and if you present me with a good point i just may hop on over to your side)

Initially i scrolled through this without reading the main article just the titles (bad idea) and so i had already made up my mind that this woman (or man) was looking to stir up some trouble. When a single group of people is for lack of a better word idolized, there always comes drama with people in the group and people outside. But after reading her (feminizing the author "hence forth") disclaimer of an introduction i changed my mind a little bit.

I think this article is very general, idealistic and somewhat naive. Yes, i said it. Coming from an african woman, actually a woman in general, the article title should be changed to "8 Reasons To Date The Ideal Man." There are a lot of things wrong with this article on so many levels and i personally think it shouldn't have been written as a guideline but as an opinion piece. For the most part, I don't think I've met ANY man no matter his creed, race or religion that possess all of these characteristics. If there really was a select group of males out there that possess these characteristics I don't think there would be a need for this article because women would have "husbanded" them up to the point that a bachelor would be an extinct species.

Don't get me wrong i love my african men and are inclined to them compared to any other group but it isn't an accurate perception to me. Although i would say from all the races of men i have encountered African men do to fit most of my preferences which do line up with the preferences whats her face mentioned. There are so many variables though, Africa is a continent with thousands of different values, languages, family structures, beliefs and to me the author seems to be treating it as its a country. Not to mention the african men raised in different countries and their societal influences. If she had focused on a single country such as. . . i don't know, Nigeria then i would say this article would be more accurate. You give me a good Nigerian man and i'll tick off 6 out of the 8 reasons to date an african man without hesitation. El oh el, I'm just kidding just wanted to end this on a lighter note.

So what say you? Do you agree? Not agree? I want to read what you guys think of this?Lets get a debate going, just refrain on cursing and rudeness (I'm quite sensitive) lol

Getting and Staying Healthy this Winter, Who's with me?

This is a very spontaneous post but i just wanted to invite you all including my fellow daqs to pledge to try and stay healthy this winter. Usually winter is when i pack on my weight, you know to keep me warm, but this year i want to try something different. My biggest issue has always been eating healthy and laying off the snacks. I can exercise and do cardio all day but i never seemed to get any skinnier and it was because i never changed my poor eating habits. As of the last couple of months i have rid my house of the usually snacks, stopped buying soda, and replaced my coffee craving for tea with honey. Seriously in a month i had people congratulating me on how much weight id lost, i wasn't even regularly exercising! Although i did sway off the path, I am back on and as committed as ever. I want this to start as a routine and slowly turn into a lifestyle. Losing weight is great but it isn't my main priority because i really do love my body the way it is, curvy like my girl B. *Wishful thinking* So i am inviting you guys to do the same, break the mold of winter weight and turn a new leaf. I also feel like starting in winter allows me to guarantee that my summer bod will be on point (even though it already is *hair flick*).

My current routine, is a usually gab a muffin for breakfast, eat something like rice or pasta for lunch and end with a salad for dinner. I read somewhere that you should eat breakfast like a queen, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. So that's what i do. As for snacks and drinks i stick to mainly water but i have a weakness for the ~~little caparison lemonades~~, i usually grab one with my muffin in the morning and i drink tea and a little triangle of laughing cow with my dinner before 8pm!

I believe that this brings my entire b.s. rant together...
Like seriously, not even the bitter of the bitterest can deny the fact that they want love (HELLLLOOO, their probably bitter because they don't have love).
I mean we are all human aren't we? I'd rather be poor and madly in love rather than rich , loveless and bitter. For me money does not buy happiness however; riches would be my sleeping pill to help me escape reality by allowing me to splurge on Giuseppe heels , bugatti veyron's, and benzes (granted I'd rather drive a mustang gt manual NOT automatic (gives me more get up)but the bugatti's and benzes made for a good analogy).

Anywho besides being a diligent student and workaholic, I get my weekly fix from studying cars sunday nights. YUMM... I guess everyone has their fix to escape what they don't have.. (dayumm I was about to go on a slight tangent about cars, ANYWAYS).....

So for the record i'm not desperate and I honestly don't know why I care to talk about the love topic right now.. Anyways i'm not one to be so open about my feelings but i'm in the midst of whinding down on this statistics project (LOVE stats) and, suddenly I began to daydream while listening to rihanna's talk that talk album.....

Let the record show that although I have not been in a relationship I'll take words of my friends and such, being that relationships require alot of work and because I am currently completely consumed by school, work, and the weee bit of social life I have when my DAQ's come in town, I definitely don't have much time for a relationship(Dude would be straight unintentionally neglected ) :(. Haha

I wouldn't mind thinking about settling down around 25 ish (or whatever god has in store for me...I believe i'm patient).... I definitely don't want to be that 40 year old virgin (where they do that at).... haha...

My ♥ ❤ ❥ For Dancehall & Reggae Music...

1998...Patra---> "Dip & Fall Back"...."Queen of the Pack"....."Worker Man"...and my all time favorite.."Goin 2 the Chapel"...

I was like 7/8 when i first heard the songs listed above...i saw the videos and it was like WHOA...I was living in London then and thanks to my cousin..i fell in love with Patra..(she taught me how to wine lol, well by watching her videos, i learnt how to wine hahahhahah )...okay so a lot of people don't know....there's a HUGE difference between Dancehall & reggae music..the easiest way to tell them apart--> Reggae is slower and more calm..pleasing to the ear...Bob Marley and many others fit this description...Dancehall music is more up beat..usually more energetic and fast pacing..Sean Paul, Vybz Kartel, Million Stylez and many others fit this description. Everyone always ask why i love both styles of music..it's all about the beat and the dancing....i will listen to anything that's pleasing to my ears...it's the beat that gets me high and puts me in a good mood...also the dancing haha..when i was 16, i wanted to be a dancehall queen..i really don't know what happened to that dream...hmmmmm......anyhoo haha, it's all about feeling da riddim...and moving to it...it puts me at peace, i know it's kinda weird but hey it's just how i feel..... to feel da riddim...you have to understand the history and trends of reggae riddims, at least superficially. Also let me just add that a lot of popular singers rely on reggae/dancehall music to create new/or they stick to the same beat..For example, the beat for Beyonce's "Run The World" was legally borrowed from Major Lazer & Vybz Kartel's "Pon Di Floor". If you love "Run the World" trust me you'll love "Pon Di Floor". Both styles of music always have an impact on me, it's slowly replacing all the 150 songs on my iPod and most of my friends are slowly adapting to it. My friend Claire used to resent it, but recently while we were going out to lunch, she was playing one of the dancehall songs i used to beg her to listen too hahah...The dancing comes after you feel de riddim...there's a whole bunch of names for danchall dance styles..like->"Tek Whe Yuself", "Dutty Wine", "Down di Flank", "Willy Bounce", "Give dem a Run" and many others....

Hey guys and gals, so i'm excited because i've recently gotten "put on" to some artists who I perceive as ingenious and GREAT!

CHILDISH GAMBINO

I strongly encourage you NOT to sleep on this artist. Granted childish gambino formally known as donald glover (yes he's an actor turned rapper haha) is thought to be a non serious rapper but i'd caution the public and other current artists to take heed. This man's lyrics make me go "aww shit haha that's true that's true" and yet I can still bump my head to the beat of the music. I'd say he's definitely a silly type of artist however, his music is authentic, he has an opinion, he has a message and I can definitely dig it. Gambino is an artist that has music of substance; it's not lauryn hill or dead prez type of substance, but it's current day subliminal authneticity. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS ALBUM! Every track is a GO. A+

THE WEEKND

Now i'm unsure if the second pic is his album cover, but that may be very controversial. Anyway who cares, when you hear his voice and his music. He makes me want to drink some hot coco and soak in a hot bubble bath (yes his music is THAT soothing). His name is abel tesfaye (he's ethiopian). That's all the info I know about him, I didn't care to really research him but I do care to have his music on repeat while i'm doing homework. He's BREATHTAKING... I'm uncertain if this is his first album but if it is then kudos to him becasue I personally believe that he'd at minimum go gold (yeah he's that good.) I'd encourage everyone to youtube him and you'd see what i'm talking about.

Now now if you don't agree with me in regards to these artists, then it's evident that either a) your not interested in these particular genres of music or b) you don't know good music; both of which completely cancels your feelings and opinions as to your takes on these artist.

Beating The Winter Blues

Feeling Irritable? Worthless? Exhausted? Alone? Having trouble sleeping or not being able to sleep? If you have been feeling like this for the past couple months then you probably have a case of the Winter Blues. The Winter Blues also known as Cabin Fever, affects millions of Americans every year. There's no solid conclusion as to why Winter Darkness happens to people, but many researchers agree that it has something to do with the lack of light and how our sleep cycles change during this time. Living in Pittsburgh, where a sunny day happens like once a week, causes me to catch a case of the Winter Blues.....Unfortunately.. (I'm counting down the months till I'm outta here....but I'll save that for a different post)....Anyways, I have a few activities that I do to help me through the cold, dark, winter months ...

1. Get Enough Sleep...But Not Too Much

I try to keep my bedtime and waking time the same every day...Now, on the weekends my waking time may be a little off, but most days of the week I try to keep it consistent. Keeping a sleep pattern gives you more energy and keeps you normal...over sleeping can actually make you more tired. Everyone should know it's best to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night.

2. Turn On All The Lights, Blast Music, and Positive Affirmations!

When I wake up in the morning I turn on all the lights and open all the window blinds. This helps my body wake up and get excited! Since the Winter Blues are partly caused by lack of light, doing this helps brighten up my apartment and get my mood to were it needs to be. Then I blast my music as I get ready in the morning to help get me happy and energized. I do have positive affirmations that I say to myself in the mirror as I dance, but I will not embarrass myself to the blog world (I am already exposed enough LOL). I don't have a set speech I say, I just say different things every time. You can say anything, from all the good stuff that you have in life, how you look, what you are excited for in the future, whatever makes you happy!

3. Wear Bright Colors!

I love bright colors and I believe just because it's winter doesn't mean your wardrobe has to drab and blah everyday. I get dressed up everyday. I plan a banging outfit the night before which gets me excited to wake up and get ready. There's no crime in getting "runway ready" dressed everyday. If I dress my best, I feel my best. If I have to go to the grocery store I throw on some heels with my outfit, why not???

4. Eating Healthy...Limit Alcohol, Sugar, and Caffeine

Practice what you preach. I am a pharmacy student, so If I am telling patients to eat healthy, I need to do the same! I am not the healthiest eater, but I try my best. I eat oatmeal for breakfast, snack on yogurt or fruit, and then PBJ/Chicken/Salad/Pasta/Rice for Lunch/Dinner. I don't drink soda, I have to push myself to drink juice, and I always drink water. Water is very important to keep hydrated and to prevent feeling sluggish during the day. Eating healthy makes your body look good, especially your skin, and this will boost your confidence and mood. Too much of alcohol, caffeine and sugar is not good, we all know that. It's all about the appropriate quantity.

5. Exercise

Exercise causes the release of endorphins in your body which triggers a positive feeling in your body. This then boosts your mood and outlook on life. I TRY to exercise everyday, but it usually ends up being like 3-5 days out of the week...which is Ok....it's good to get at least 30mins - 1hour of physical activity most days of the week. I try to mix it up so I don't get board and I always have to have music playing. I alternate between going to the gym and doing kick boxing in my living room from my On Demand Exercise channel. Sometimes I just put on loud music and dance around my apartment for an hour. I love to dance so it's actually easier for me get up and dance than drag myself to the gym LOL.

6. Spoil Yourself

If you don't already know, I am a firm believer in being spoiled. It's not a crime to treat yourself, and it's important for self maintenance. I spoil myself with shopping, getting my nails done, and going out with my girls....anything to get my mind off responsibilities for a couple hours so I can relax...it's important to relax and let loose so my stress level is down. Even going out to get things to redecorate your space is good too. Just get out of your house and get as much sun as you can!!

We received this question from one of our lovely followers on how us daqs seem to manage our busy schedules and still manage to be fabulous. *hair flick* We all pretty much live in different cities and do pretty different things so we are all going to explain how each of us manage our time. Hope this is helpful.

Well hmm where do i start. I have a little regimen that i try to stick by but many a times i stray away from it which is fine because budget it in my time to for it. Basically monday through friday i am in class form 8am- 4pm when i get out of class i am usually pretty beat so i give 2 hours after class to unwind (watch tv, blog etc.) or nap, more times than not it usually is both. After that i start studying, one thing i have to do is that i take a break between subjects. That's pretty much it for the week, all i seriously do is study. The weekends usually don't start until 1pm. I refuse to wake up before noon on the weekends due to all the years of my childhood being woken up by my father before 10am because "I have gotten more than enough sleep" smh. Anyway, i usually mess around until 3-4ish and thats when i start studying. "Fun places" such as Walmart, Mcdonalds and Giorninos require serious planning since it usually takes a day and a half to get there. Slight exaggeration but seriously the closest thing to me is Mcdonalds and it isn't even 24 hours! *the struggle* Walmart is a 15-20 minute drive and the mall is a good 40 minutes, i don't enjoy the simple pleasantries of life and thats why i am a homebody and spend all my time studying *le sigh* I usually see my girls once a month so when I'm there i get it all the way in because when i go home its back to business.

I am currently on my pharmacy rotations now so Monday through Friday 8-4 or 9-5, it depends on when the my preceptor wants me to come in, I have that going on. When I get home I nap,watch TV, blog, or eat for a couple hours till I'm motivated to do my rotation projects that are due at the end of each month. I have certain shows I watch each day of the week: Monday (BB wives/Housewives/Bad Girls Club), Tuesdays(90210), Wednesday(Modern Family/Top Model), Thursday(??? Jersey Shore is over :-( LOL) and Fridays (Any shows that have to do with weddings). I have a dry erase board where I write down all the things I need to do for that month so I don't forget. Plus I add any meetings/events that I need to attend on my smartphone planner. I have to write things down or I get really anxious and I end up not getting anything accomplished LOL. I make a deadline for each rotation project during the week so I have less loads for the weekends. Ok so now my weekends, I sleep in till 11-12 ish, eat, then do any work that needs to be finished up that I couldn't during the week. After all that's done I then shop for the rest of the day (groceries included if it's time to restock my fridge). I cook Fridays and Saturdays, and I make food to last me for the week (I have no time/motivation to cook during the week). Sundays, church at 12pm or 6pm, depends on what I have to do that day and if I stayed out late the night before. I don't go out every weekend. When the DAQs are in town, which is like once a month, I go out and then some other random weekend of the month.... :-)

I usually have class everyday from about 8-3ish...I usually go home afterward and eat, update my list of things to do, and then I unwind for an hour or 2. Then the studying begins until about 10 or 11pm. Then i might watch one of my shows that i recorded before i go to bed. That's pretty much my typical day. I love to make lists. I have a mini notebook that i write my list of lectures to read or listen to for everyday of the week. I also have an app on my phone called taskos. Basically it's a fancy list maker. I love it. I love to write things down in my mini notebook. I color coordinate the things I write down based on the importance. On the weekends I usually wake up around 10 or 11ish. I eat and then start studying as soon as possible. I usually study for about 4 hours and then i take a break and watch youtube videos, tv, blog, talk on the phone for about an hour and then i get back to the books for another 4 hours. I try to end my studying around 9 on the weekends so i can relax for the rest of the night. On sunday, i wake up around 10 or 11, eat and study until 4:30. Then I get ready for church @6pm. After church i prep for the new week. I do laundry and cook. That's my basic week. I usually go out with the DAQs after I have exams, when i'm completely free!

I have classes everyday from 8 to 4:00..after class i go home and i sleep for an hour and a half. Everyday is a long day for me but an hour and a half is all i need to relax and unwind. What worked for me is that everyday after my class, i use three hours or more if i need it to revise and make my own notes on the classes i had that day and the things i didn't understand, i read the text to understand it. It works for me because if i don't do that, stuff keeps piling on and on and boom when it's exam time..i crash. It's fun time for me around 9ish. I live with my sis and fun time includes chasing her around the house, replying messages and keeping up with friends, watching TV and as of October 2011..blogging. I start my perspective drawing around 11:30, i draw better at night, i dunno why...after that..it's bed time. I do have certain shows i watch on TV, i usually watch them on weekends. Another thing i do is that some of my lectures, i record them. On my way home from or to school, i just listen to my professor and that has helped me alot. Whenever i record, i don't need to spend more than 2 hours to revise, i learn by listening and that basically helps alot. Whenever it's exam time, i just revise or listen to my own recorded studies and i'm done. On saturday, i study..i study all day because Sundays are rest day for me..even God rested on Sunday so best believe i'm resting lol. The little things i do on Sunday is draw, if i want too....laundry, skype with friends around the world..i have friends everywhere :)..then i get ready for the coming week. Like i said, what worked for me is revising after class and listening to the recordings from class and my own recorded voice from my revisions. Next semester, my schedule will definitely change cause i will be an undergrad TA for physics, maybe then i'll make a new post on how i manage my time again lol. Whenever the DAQs are in town, it's go time...I think it's best for one to find out how they learn best and use that to organize and balance yourself and time, it did wonders for me and it might for you too :)

Morning to do's:
I leave home around 7 am M-F. I get to school around 8 I begin reading over my notes for the classes from the previous day. I do homework and analyze problems until about 30 minutes before my first class of the day. After my first class the school day is a complete rush until 4:45 when I head to work.

Work:
My work schedule is from 5-10 M-F. I have a pretty cool job where I pretty much get paid a real good chunk of change to not do shhhh....
While at work I briefly (30-1hr max) review everything that was taught in class so that I can remember it for the next morning.

Home:
I get home around 11pm or I go to ify's crib. I bullshit until I fall asleep.

Recap:
In a jiffy I pretty much summed up my daily activities aside from my personal life which generally begins on Friday and extends til Sunday around 6pm.

Hours per week of studying:
Approx 18-25 hrs (I sometimes study after class on Fri because I have a large break between class and work)
I also begin reviewing sunday night for my weekly classes.

Hours per week of work:
25-30 (i sometimes work on saturdays)...

I generally grind hard all day M-F! This is how I operate for now!...

THIS is solely how I manage my time for THIS SEMESTER!...
Next semester my whole time management map will change because my whole schedule will change and my internship will be added to the schedule.

I'll fill you all in on my new T.M list...
For now this works for me and again next semester my time management sched will drastically change being that I'm a full time student but I will also be interning for 40hrs a week on top of juggling my job... but I guarantee you that my social will still stay in tact. I'm on academic scholarship so my grades have no choice but to stay real boss like.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show!

It's that time of the year again when I get all excited for the VS Angels to prance around on a sparkly stage in their bra and underwear....I LOVE LOVE LOVE Victoria's Secret! From their PINK Collection to their Lotions! If you ask any DAQ they can tell you how much I LOVE Victoria's Secret ....Their slogan for their PINK collection is "I only sleep in PINK"...well that is very true for me! I have to wear at least 1 Victoria's secret item when I go to bed! I recently treated myself to their PINK NFL Collection and got my whole Pittsburgh Steelers garb: Hoodies, Sweat Pants and a Henley Shirt.... Any who, back to the Fashion Show!! The one thing I love about the VS fashion show is the way they mix a scene with a live performance and its just a party on the run way. The models are free to walk and dance as they feel the music....Every year I anticipate how they are going to be inventive on what the wings will look like and who will wear the Million Dollar bra! This year Miranda Kerr had the honor of donning the Ice Peacock ensemble with the bra worth 2.5 Million dollars made with 3,400 hand set precious gems, diamonds and pearls! *drooling*....any who the the most buzzed about angels were Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima and

Alessandra Ambrosio. Nkeiru and I were on the phone together as we both watched the show and she was a little uneasy about the fact that their wasn't enough medium to dark skinned black angels, only light skinned ones....I agreed with her about that....It would be beautiful to see a dark skinned angel wearing the bright colors of Victoria's secret....Don't you just love how clothes look more beautiful or desirable on black people LOL I do!

I had an issue with Asian Angels not
looking as
glamorous as the rest of the angels...I don't know what the issue was,not enough make-up? They gave them less flashy outfits?....All of the above!...any who, I enjoyed Maroon 5, Jay-z and Kanye, and Nicki Minaj....they played a couple of Rihanna's songs and I was bummed that she wasn't on the roster to perform :-( .... Orlando Bloom and Adam Levine were great cheerleaders for their woman and I thought that was cute :-)....Did you catch Beyonce and Lala Vasquez in the audience?.....

Which were your favorite Outfits? What's your opinion on the number of Blacks/Asians? Are the Angels too skinny?

Talk That Talk

OK people! it's late but i just had to share my feelings about Rihanna's new album. I just purchased this album today, and I have listened to it from start to finish 4 times....I must say that I am impressed. Some of you may know that I'm a big Rihanna fan. Let me tell you, this album did not disappoint! Talk That Talk is Rihanna's 6th studio album. Compared to Rihanna's last 2 albums, this one seems to be more optimistic. It includes a few tracks that are "electronic/ dubstep music" ready for the club. The previous two albums definitely had an angry vibe that was probably due to her domestic violence fiasco with Chris Brown. However, true to Rihanna's character she included lyrics about love with an explicit and suggestive flavor. The first single off the album, "We found love", has been #1 on the billboard Hot 100 for 4 weeks in a row. Hopefully this album will debut as #1 on the Billboard 200!!! we shall wait and see!

Anybody else buy the album? If so, what are your favorite tracks?

Thanksgiving Bengali Style

Spent this thanksgiving away from framily, weird i know!, and with Progga. We had a great time goofing off as you can tell from the quick snapshots. We were mainly on ~~babysitting duty~~ the whole night, nothing new. I felt pretty legitimate rocking the attire, i can't lie. I was prancing around acting like i was in a Bollywood movie and ~~Shahrukh Khan~~ was my leading man. We managed to ~~sneak~~ off later that night to Walmart to enjoy some black friday festivities. Although we are both not really Black Friday shoppers but we do love seeing people gauging each other eyes out for the last ~~kaleidoscope toaster oven~~. Somewhat of a guilty pleasure, sort of like Jersey Shore or Bad Girls Club. We know in our right mind we shouldn't be watching this but we can't resist laughing at all the Tom Foolery. Let me just tell you, we witnessed hella Tom Foolery. While watching the running with the bulls, ~~i mean soccer moms juiced up on 5 hour energy~~, we managed to slink off and score a couple of $2 dvds. Those are the kind of deals we enjoy, $5 and under, $10 if it lights up.

An interesting couple of ~~devils~~ those kid were. I clutched my ovaries a couple times praying my kids don't turn out like some of these runts.

Spending this thanksgiving with a friend, something new. Honestly, this is an easy fall look i just threw on. I did put a little more effort into my make up and hair. AWU Breast Cancer Fundraiser

I attended this fundraiser hosted by my mother. Although the main reason for the event was to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and getting screening equipment sent to nigeria it also doubled as a huge family reunion. I ended up being the family photographer so i barely got into any of the pics but ehhh what can you do.

I am a firm believer of rocking heels til the end but it was like 2 am and we weren't leaving anytime soon.

Hey loves,
Life has been crazy preparing for exams and all other school stuff and that's why i haven't been posting many of my usual planned posts. I don't know if you noticed or not, ~~to stroke my ego~~ i am going to assume you did LOL. Exams are over and this have nothing to do with this weekend, it's pretty chilli outside and i am low on gas so i can't even drive somewhere ( i am telling you, THE STRUGGLE). I don't recall what i did friday, ~~hint hint~~, i had to meet up with classmates for some stuffs on saturday and once i came back home i cuddled up with my laptop (the struggles of a single gal) and watched past episodes of Braxtons: Family Values and passed out at 9. Now that i have 15+ hours of sleep under my belt, done everything on my to do list, which included reorganizing and cleaning my somewhat disastrous room, all in 3 hours of my arousal. I AM ALL YOURS. Not really, because i am juggling watching The Hills, typing this, eating Salt & Vinegar chips all with wet nails. I like to stay really busy so inside i feel somewhat useful, I'm so pitiful i should write a book "The Life and Times of the Loser with a Fireplace".

I digress, this is getting way too long and i have other posts to make. Get excited because you are going to have a barrage of posts by yours truly :)

Career vs. Family life

One of my main passions in life is medicine! I'm a geek at heart. I love weird science facts and I like to solve mysteries (kind of like a diagnosis). Mystery Diagnosis is one of my favorite shows. I've always wanted to be a physician...except that one time in first grade I said I wanted to be a taxi driver...DONT ASK ME WHY!! haha...at the time I thought it would be a good idea to drive homeless people around..haha...give me a break I was only 5. Anywho!...I've always been good at working with my hands. I like to fix things, assemble things, sew things, knit things with my grandma, draw things, and do hair. So basically anything with my hands, I'm down! So naturally when I started medical school everybody told me surgery was where I would find my niche. Surgery is a male dominated field and is very time consuming. When I tell most of my male colleagues about my career aspirations, they usually give me a surprised look. I even hear people say "I guess you don't plan to have a family." Well, I do plan to have a family...and I also plan to have the right career that suits me. Do the two have to conflict? Is it the woman who has to sacrifice her career for her family? I've been told that I want to have my cake and eat it too. Is that such a bad thing???

DAQ Kind Of Weekend!

It was one of those epic weekends where the gorgeous girls of DAQ unite for a weekend spectacular....After a busy week of grinding, it was time to let loose and live it up....My apartment was FULL! It was an experience to have

8 girls share 1 bathroom and have only 3 mirrors for make-up....In the end we had to sadly part our ways and return to reality...I can say, and I believe all the girls would agree, this was the best weekend thus far we have experienced!....As usual
